Climate & Planning

The climate crisis will bring change to our communities and there is a real need to plan for a more sustainable built environment that can deal with those changes.

But this is also an opportunity to talk about what we want to improve in our living spaces: what do we want to keep ? What are we prepared to let go of ? What do we need that is not there right now?

WeAreHere Lowestoft aims to be a part of that conversation and to put our ideas forward.

Two local plans that affect the future shape of Lowestoft are under review this winter: the Local Neighbourhood Plan and the Waveney Local Plan. Having our say in these reviews is one very practical way to use our democratic voice to create what we want to see.

We believe that the Local Plan has many good aspects but that we need to radically re-order our planning priorities as a community in the light of the challenges and opportunities that climate change presents.
